AMERICAN TOWNSHIP PUBLIC NOTICE The American Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2026 @ 4:00PM , at the American Township Administration Building, 102 Pioneer Road, Elida, Ohio. Purpose is to hear applications for a zoning variance and a conditional use permit. BZA-2026-15 Bruce Altenbach & Erin Hollstein, 2857 Whippoorwill Avenue, Lima, Ohio. Property is zoned R-1. Applicants seek to add an addition to the south side of the residential structure which will be 4-5 feet from property line. Building side setbacks require 10 feet from the property line. Applicants seek a 5-6-foot variance from the Board of Zoning Appeals. BZA-2026-16, Chad Gray, 1540 Fairway Drive, Lima, Ohio, property owner at 3155 West Elm Street, Lima, Ohio. Property is vacant land and zoned as B-1. Owner seeks to develop the 5 acre property with mini-self storage units, consisting of #202 shipping containers at 20ft X 8ft (160 SF each); #105 shipping containers at 40ft X 8ft (320 SF each); and approx. #37 shipping containers at 20ft X 8 ft (160 SF each) for RV, boat and larger item storage. A combined total of 344 shipping containers. A public hearing and conditional use permit are required per zoning regulations, Art. 8.2.1. An 8-ft privacy fence will be installed along properties zoned residential that adjoin the construction area. Additional notice of these hearings will be posted on the Township website and social media page. Information will be available at American Township Monday through Friday, 8 AM–12 PM.
